PROGRAM FOR DAY ONE – Thirsday,November 6, 2025 Athens – Kamena Vourla – Meteora – Larissa

🔹 Quote of the Day

“Like the Argo from Volos and Alexander the Great from Macedonia, every journey begins with a vision and ends with transformation.”

After breakfast, we depart from Athens and begin our journey through the heart of mainland Greece. As we travel north, we pass through the ancient region of Boeotia, rich in myth and history, and continue across the fertile lands of Phthiotis, where the past and present coexist harmoniously. Our first stop is in the charming seaside town of Kamena Vourla, known for its thermal springs and coastal charm — a perfect spot for a relaxing coffee break.

From there, we make our way to one of the most awe-inspiring landmarks in all of Greece — the Meteora.

Meteora is considered the second most significant monastic complex in Greece after Mount Athos. Its name is inspired by the first monk who settled there — Meteoritis.

Towering rock pillars, shaped by millions of years of natural forces, rise dramatically from the Thessalian plain, crowned by centuries-old monasteries seemingly suspended between earth and heaven. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is not only a geological wonder, but also a living monument of Orthodox spirituality and human perseverance. We will visit the Holy Monastery of Saint Stephen, one of the most accessible and welcoming of the six active monasteries, offering sweeping views and a serene spiritual atmosphere.

In the late afternoon, we arrive in Larissa, the vibrant capital of Thessaly. Surrounded by Greece’s largest and most fertile agricultural plain, Larissa is one of the country’s most economically active cities. It is also a city of remarkable cultural depth — home to the only ancient Greek theater situated right in the center of a modern city, and widely known for its dynamic social scene, excellent cafés, and nightlife. After hotel check-in, those who wish may enjoy an optional dinner at a local restaurant (not included), experiencing the city’s culinary richness firsthand.

PROGRAM FOR DAY TWO – Friday,November 7, 2025 Larissa – Vergina – Veria – Thessaloniki

🔹 Quote of the Day

"I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion."
Alexander the Great

After breakfast, we begin our morning with a guided walk through the city of Larissa, uncovering layers of ancient and modern Greece. We will visit the Ancient Theater, a stunning open-air monument that lies at the city’s very heart, seamlessly connecting the classical past with everyday life. We’ll continue to the Fortress Hill (Frourio) — a beloved area full of pedestrian walkways, lively cafés, and hidden gems that showcase Larissa’s vibrant energy.

Next, we journey north toward Vergina, the site of ancient Aigai, the first capital of the Kingdom of Macedon. There, we’ll explore the archaeological site and royal tombs, including that of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. The underground museum — built within the ancient burial mound — offers a powerful, immersive experience with artifacts of great historical and emotional significance.

Following this profound encounter with the legacy of Macedonia, we head to the nearby town of Veria for lunch in one of its picturesque tavernas, nestled among neoclassical buildings and Ottoman courtyards.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Thessaloniki, the cosmopolitan heart of northern Greece. After settling into our hotel, we’ll take a leisurely evening stroll along the city’s iconic harborfront promenade, where the sea breeze and the sunset create a perfect welcome. The evening is an invitation to explore Thessaloniki’s world-renowned gastronomy, a delicious fusion of Balkan, Mediterranean, and Asia Minor influences — bold, aromatic, and unforgettable.

PROGRAM FOR DAY THREE – Saturday,November 8, 2025 Thessaloniki: City Tour & Free Exploration

🔹Quote of the Day

"Remember — upon the conduct of each depends the fate of all."
Alexander the Great

After breakfast, we begin our day with a guided city tour of Thessaloniki, exploring its rich blend of ancient, Byzantine, and modern heritage. Our route includes a visit to the city’s Upper Town and Byzantine Walls, where panoramic views stretch from Mount Olympus to the Thermaic Gulf. The White Tower, the Rotunda, and the city's many Roman ruins tell stories of power, transformation, and cultural fusion.

After our tour, the rest of the day is yours to discover Thessaloniki at your own pace. Whether you choose to visit world-class museums, walk the vibrant Ladadika district, indulge in local sweets like bougatsa, or simply relax by the sea — this is your time to absorb the city’s charm and create your own memories.

Thessaloniki is more than a destination — it’s a feeling. A crossroads of empires and ideas, it has always embraced those who seek beauty, meaning, and connection.

PROGRAM FOR DAY FOUR – Sunday,November 9, 2025 Thessaloniki – Volos – Athens

🔹 Quote of the Day

"There is nothing impossible to him who will try."
Alexander the Great

After breakfast, with our hearts full of stories, flavors, and images from Northern Greece, we begin our return journey to Athens. On our way south, we will make a final stop in the vibrant seaside city of Volos.

Nestled at the foot of Mount Pelion, Volos is a port city that beautifully bridges mythology and modern Greek life. According to legend, it was from this very bay that Jason and the Argonauts set sail in search of the Golden Fleece — a myth that inspired Alexander the Great’s own legendary aspirations of conquest and discovery.

Today, Volos is renowned for its ouzeris — traditional taverns where ouzo and meze flow in harmony with laughter and storytelling. We’ll walk along the harbor promenade, breathe in the salty air, and then savor a lunch of local delicacies in one of these beloved eateries.

This final gathering offers a warm, authentic closing to our Northern Greece experience — a reminder that Greek culture is not only found in monuments, but also in shared tables, in conversations, and in the quiet poetry of everyday life.
